Experiences can go anywhere. Just as Starbucks turned coffee into a social, indulgent experience (remember when we used to pay 50 cents for a cup of coffee?), plenty of other industries are now joining the fray. To wit, I just read about a local dentist called Dental Design of Kedron. According to the local paper, the dentist's office offers "several amenities to patients, including a complimentary juice bar with fresh fruit, full-body massage units on the treatment chairs, flat-screen televisions with DVD players to watch movies while being treated, and iPods for your music listening pleasure." I can still hear the horrible sound of the drill grinding on my teeth as a child - using music and television to drown it out is a GREAT idea.
